Well-established hospitality venue located in South Townsville, Queensland. The venue offers a vibrant dining experience with a diverse menu featuring modern Australian cuisine, seafood dishes, grilled selections, and contemporary pub favourites.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking menu items while maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, and kitchen operations.

This role requires someone who can work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment and contribute positively to the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook menu items in accordance with recipes and kitchen standards

  • Assist with daily food preparation and service

  • Maintain consistency in food quality, taste, and presentation

  • Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations

  • Follow HACCP and workplace health and safety procedures

  • Assist with stock control, ordering, and stock rotation

  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, equipment, and workstations

  • Minimise food wastage and assist in controlling food costs

  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen team during busy service periods

  • Assist in training junior kitchen staff where required

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this role, applicants should have:

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience as a Cook or Chef

  • Relevant qualification such as Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent)

  • Experience working in a commercial kitchen environment

  • Sound knowledge of cooking techniques and kitchen equipment

  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Reliable, punctual, and professional attitude

Preferred (but not essential)

  • Experience with seafood preparation or modern Australian cuisine

  • Experience in high-volume hospitality venues

Work Requirements
