The company is seeking a qualified Retail Manager (General) to join their busy workshop.

Position Description:

As our Retail Manager (General), candidates will play a pivotal role in supporting the Store Manager to achieve operational objectives and financial targets. Candidates will manage business systems, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and lead staff across all store operations. This position is key to maintaining the reputation and smooth running of our retail outlet in a remote setting.

The candidate’s Key Responsibilities & Duties:

▪ Determines product mix, stock levels and service standards

▪ Formulates and implements purchasing and marketing policies, and sets prices

▪ Promotes and advertises the establishment's goods and services

▪ Sells goods and services to customers and advises them on product use

▪ Maintains records of stock levels and financial transactions

▪ Undertakes budgeting for the establishment

▪ Controls selection, training and supervision of staff

▪ Ensures compliance with occupational health and safety regulations

Qualifications & Experience

Mandatory:

▪ Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or proven leadership experience in a retail environment.

▪ Demonstrated experience with inventory control systems, POS systems, and bookkeeping software.

▪ Experience supervising, mentoring, and training staff within Human Resources and Work Health Safety framework.

Desired:

▪ Previous experience working and living in regional remote communities.

▪ A sound knowledge of indigenous culture and employment barriers within remote settings.

Essential Skills & Attributes:

▪ Exceptional multitasking, prioritizing, and problem-solving abilities.

▪ Well-developed emotional intelligence and effective communication skills.

▪ Strong decision-making capabilities under pressure and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Salary And Benefits:

Salary: $76,5615 AUD (per annum) + Superannuation

Accommodation: One-bedroom or two-bedroom units on a shared (Negotiable)

Detailed Key Responsibilities & Duties of Retail Manager (General)

Customer Service Excellence:

▪ Deliver an exceptional service experience to all stakeholders, ensuring professional, courteous interactions that elevate the store’s reputation.

Operational & Administrative Management:

▪ Manage daily store operations in the Store Manager’s absence, overseeing stock management, ordering, pricing, and merchandising.

▪ Maintain retail systems and cash-handling procedures, including routine banking activities.

Store Presentation & Safety:

▪ Uphold high standards of store appearance—premises, displays, produce, and marketing materials—to reflect a top-tier retail environment.

▪ Enforce robust security measures to safeguard the site, stock, and cash.

Financial & Bookkeeping Oversight:

▪ Streamline financial processes by managing bookkeeping systems, administering wages, and preparing periodic financial reports.

Marketing & Community Engagement:

▪ Lead the development and implementation of advertising and promotional initiatives, including maintaining a digital presence.

▪ Pursuing government subsidies and local initiatives to support remote retail operations.

Staff Leadership & Training:

▪ Supervise and coordinate store staff, ensuring efficient rostering and adherence to HR and Work Health & Safety policies.

▪ Provide training and mentorship, including executing an indigenous employment strategy.

Maintenance & General Duties:

▪ Oversee the upkeep of the store environment, cleaning, landscaping, and equipment maintenance.

▪ Perform additional duties as required to support overall store operations.

Compliance & Safety:

▪ Ensure strict compliance with all Work Health & Safety procedures and regulatory requirements, proactively mitigating workplace risks.
